Zelda Trixie Lulamoon (born October 21, 1998) is an American musician and songwriter who performs under the alias Vylet Pony.[1] Lulamoon is most well known for her work in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic-themed music.[6][5]

Comment: Vylet Pony doesn't yet meet notability standards for Wikipedia as much of the coverage in WP:RS has been around her work and not about her herself, and thus doesn't meet WP:SIGCOV. However, I believe Love & Ponystep sufficiently meets WP:GNG. I have created the article for the album and have moved the Vylet Pony redirect from Brony music to that article. Early life
Lulamoon was born in Daly City on October 21, 1998.[1][2] She is multiracial and describes her ethnic background as "half Filipino and Chinese. The other half is like Scottish and Italian or something."[7] She grew up in a strict household, with her parents tightly controlling the media she engaged with.[3]
Lulamoon began creating music in 2006, using "a laptop set up with a Korg M1 keyboard & Garageband."[6] A teacher at Lulamoon's middle school introduced her to electronic music in 2012[6] and she joined the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fandom in June of that year.[8]
Career
Lulamoon made "No Matter What," her first My Little Pony-themed song, in 2012.[6] Even as the My Little Pony fandom declined in the mid-late 2010s,[9] Lulamoon's profile grew, with her albums CUTIEMARKS[10] and can opener's notebook: fish whisperer attracting public and critical attention.[6][5] In 2019, Lulamoon was featured on the track "Memory" by The Living Tombstone.[11] Lulamoon's work received substantial attention when YouTuber Anthony Fantano played her song "i’ve still got something to teach you" on his The Needle Drop stream in February 2022.[5][1] In a Sonemic interview from 2023, Lulamoon describes her original artistic goal as being "to get pony music on Monstercat",[3] with her current goals being to "just be weird and try to get other people to let themselves also be weird".[4] As of February 3, 2026, her most recent studio album is Love & Ponystep, her twentieth record, which was positively received by Pitchfork.[3]
She cites Skrillex's 2010 EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites as an early influence[3], and Genesis's The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway as her favorite album of all time.[4]
Musical style
Music critics have described Lulamoon's output as fitting in several genres.[12][10] The Fandomentals' J. Darr said that Lulamoon's work as Vylet Pony "leaps effortlessly between branches of EDM with various forays into synthpop, alternative metal, R&B, and a laundry list of other genres."[6] Writing for Willamette Week, journalist Daniel Bromfield observed that "a single song" by Lulamoon "might toggle between dubstep, orchestral pop, punk rock, and ambient music in just a few minutes."[1] Writing for Ringtone, Amelia Zollner described Lulamoon's can opener's notebook as "Drawing upon everything from hyperpop to prog and influences like Porter Robinson and underscores."[5] In a review for Pitchfork, Kieran Press-Reynolds describes Lulamoon's musical output as "eccentric" and "anarchic", writing that "Lulamoon weaves effortlessly from sky-high EDM drops to mainstream radio LARPing" and referring to Love & Ponystep as a "twee-ring circus of EDM insanity".[3]
Lulamoon says she originally started out wanting to make progressive rock,[4] which would eventually come to pass with 2024's Monarch of Monsters, a prog noise rock album[13] focused on violence and sexual trauma, released accompanied by a novella.[14]
Much of Lulamoon's music is based on her original characters and storylines loosely inspired by Friendship is Magic. Her fans have compiled a wiki documenting the lore of her albums and characters.[13] Her music is at its core a celebration of subculture and self-acceptance[12], often sampling from video games and Internet memes. Love & Ponystep features interludes from Disco Elysium narrator Lenval Brown, and spoken vocals from chess YouTuber sadisticTushi.[3][13] Lulamoon's albums often feature a single reoccurring vocal sample throughout.[10]
Reception
Critical reception to Lulamoon's work as Vylet Pony has generally been favorable. Darr highlighted the passion and originality of Lulamoon's work and praised CUTIEMARKS as "a triumphant affirmation of queer survival in the face of threats both internal and external."[6] Zollner praised the unique concept of can opener's notebook and asserted, "Trust me, you’re going to want to give this album a shot."[5] In a later article, she writes that "Vylet Pony’s music can be for you regardless of your brony status".[13] In July 2024, Darryl Sterdan of Tinnitist highlighted Lulamoon's Girls Who Are Wizards as a noteworthy upcoming music release.[15]
David Hall of Firebird Magazine praises I Was the Loner of Paradise Valley for "using the aesthetics of fandom to propel its meaning, operating on its own terms to create a mystical soundscape that belongs entirely to Vylet".[12] Bonnibel Lilith Rampertab of The Daily Campus highlights Lulamoon's "prowess and versatility in vocal performance" in her review of Monarch of Monsters.[14]
Her albums have consistently performed well on RateYourMusic's yearly charts[16][4], with Monarch of Monsters maintaining its position on the charts despite its provocative cover artwork.[13]
Love & Ponystep received a dedicated review in Pitchfork on August 11, 2025, recieving a score of 7.8. Press-Reynolds writes that the album "excels at smashing together trashy pop and bonkers brostep", with the sole negative remark being that "if there's anything holding this album back, it's excess: 95 minutes with what feels like 5,000 references and endless allusions to past work."[3]
Personal life
Lulamoon moved to Portland, Oregon[3] in 2019, where she currently lives.[1] She identifies as transgender, lesbian, acespec, and neurodivergent.[1][7] Lulamoon is married to Eden Laing; the couple celebrates their anniversary on July 11.[17]
