  • Comment: Using accessible sources, or links to existing sources, would make the submission easier to review.
Could also do with a rewrite for clarity. People are introduced without a link, or context, I suggest adding paragraphs, and using the form 'became' instead of 'would become' etc. Greenman (talk) 09:57, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

Biography

Moeun was Born as Yung Yem in 1948.[1] She married a Khmer Rouge recruiter working as a rubber factory worker and became the personal cook of Pol Pot. She would become the secretary of his wife, Khieu Ponnary, who was the head of the nations women's organization. She intensely disliked Khieu Ponnary due to her thinking she was haughty when they first met before her marriage to Pol Pot and less so due to Aunty Ponnary (as she was called by Moeun) raving about vietnamese coming to attack.

When she came to Phnom Penh she was made aware her husband would be appointed to become ambassador to China. This was likely due to the clique her sister developed in the foreign affairs department. Her sister would work her way up from heading a shop for diplomats to becoming the right hand of Ieng Sary. Moeien would then become the head of the party at the embassy, making her ranked higher than her husband. She would also become deputy ambassador to the PRC. As embassy staff for Democratic Kampuchea were purged including staff at the embassies in Laos Vietnam North Korea who were accused of spying for the Vietnamese, Americans, and Russians, Moeum and her husband were not summoned. The Sudanese, Senegalese, and Somali ambassadors would alert Moeun's husband of the impending Vietnamese invasion of Democratic Kampuchea. As Kampuchea was invaded Mouen's husband would play tennis with Prince Sihanouk who Moeun saw as very childish.

She and her husband would be recalled by Ieng Sary who would tell her how she was accused many times of being a traitor but was always defended by Pol Pot.[2] In her later years Moeun would enjoy watching Soccer and Wrestling particularly enjoying John Cena and Messi. She would stand by Pol Pot to her death. She Died 73 in March 4 2004.[3]
