Dynasty of Death was the debut novel of the Anglo-American writer Taylor Caldwell (1900–1985), released in September 1938 and published by Scribner's Sons.[2] When Caldwell submitted the manuscript to Maxwell Perkins in 1937, she was an unknown housewife from Buffalo, New York.[3] Before her identity was revealed, common speculation was that the author was male and a literary veteran writing under a pen name.[4][5] Dynasty of Death launched her prolific career.
A sequel, The Eagles Gather, was released in January 1940.[6]
