Crash in Garmisch 2026
On 27 February 2026 during the training for the World Cup downhill in Garmisch, following a bad fall, there were fears for his health conditions. He was transported by helicopter after a few days spent in German hospitals and returned to Finland. In a 9 March 2026 interview he spoke of his very bad crash, in which he suffered a blow to the head. He said that once the condition of his knee had been assessed, he would return to training and therefore to skiing.[3]
