Emanuel Sharp

Coming out of high school, Sharp committed to play college basketball for the Houston Cougars over other schools such as Texas Tech, Florida, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Arizona, Clemson, Penn State, SMU and USF.^[2]

As a freshman in 2021–22, Sharp was redshirted.^[3] As a redshirt freshman in 2022–23, he averaged 5.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 33 games.^[4] In the second round of the 2024 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, Sharp led the way with 30 points and seven threes in a win over Texas A&M.^[5] During the 2023-24 season, he averaged 12.6 points in 37 games.^[6] On November 22, 2024, Sharp hit five threes in a win over Hofstra.^[7] On November 30, he put up 23 points in an overtime loss to San Diego State.^[8] On January 25, 2025 Sharp scored eight points in a double overtime victory against Kansas.^[9] On February 18, he notched 17 points with four threes in a victory versus Arizona State.^[10] During the 2025 Big 12 men's basketball tournament, Sharp helped lead his team to a conference title where he was named the tournament's most outstanding player.^[11] In the March Madness tournament, Sharp and the Cougars would reach the championship game, where they fell short at the buzzer against Florida, with the final score being 65–63.

On June 24, 2026, in the second round of the 2026 NBA draft, Sharp was selected with the 45th overall pick to the Sacramento Kings.^[12]

In 2019, Sharp was a member of the Israeli Under-16 national team and participated in the FIBA U16 European Championship, averaging 25 points per contest.^[13]

He is the son of former Israeli professional basketball player Derrick Sharp.^[14][15] Sharp has Israeli, American and Canadian citizenship.^[8]

According to Sportsnet.ca, although being born in Israel, Sharp's "ties to Canada run deep through his mother Justine Ellison Sharp, a Hamilton, Ontario native." His mother played basketball at the University of Toronto and in 2009 was inducted into the Varsity Blues Hall of Fame. She led Toronto to two national silver medals and was named the women's university athlete of the year in her senior season (1995–96).^[16]
