Emma Luttenauer

Emma Luttenauer (born 18 April 2000) is a French freestyle wrestler. She is a two-time European U23 champion and won the bronze medal at the 2023 U23 World Wrestling Championships.[1][2]

Early life and education

Originally from Alsace, Luttenauer began wrestling at the age of three at the Mèmpapeurs de Sausheim club in Haut-Rhin, while also practicing gymnastics, swimming and rugby.[3]

She later trained at the development centre in Font-Romeu, then at the national training centres in Clermont-Ferrand and Dijon, before joining the INSEP in September 2021.[4] Alongside her sporting career, she studied law at Paris-Panthéon-Assas University.[5]

Career

Competing for the Entente Lutte Côte d’Opale club in Boulogne-sur-Mer, Luttenauer developed into one of France's leading age-group freestyle wrestlers.[6]

She won the gold medal at the 2022 European U23 Wrestling Championships in Plovdiv and successfully defended her title at the 2023 European U23 Wrestling Championships in Bucharest, both in the women's freestyle 50 kg division.[4] In 2023, she also won the bronze medal at the 2023 U23 World Wrestling Championships in Tirana.[7]

Luttenauer won the gold medal at the 2023 Jeux de la Francophonie in Kinshasa in the 50 kg category.[7] She was also runner-up at the 2022 World University Championships in Samsun, Turkey, and finished fifth at the 2022 Mediterranean Games in Oran in the 53 kg division.[7]

At senior level, she finished ninth at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships and ninth at the 2023 European Wrestling Championships.[8] In 2025, she placed fifth at the 2025 European Wrestling Championships and won the silver medal at the Military World Championships in Warendorf.[9]

She was also a multiple medalist at French national championships, finishing second in 2019 and 2022, and third in 2018, 2020 and 2021.[10]
