Oyama was born to a Japanese karate teacher and an American mother in Birmingham, Alabama, and went to the Alabama School of Fine Arts.[7][8] She is married to actor and comedian Ken Marino.[9][10][11] She is sister to comedian Zac Oyama.[12]
