Ernest Woodhead (2 February 1857[2] – 10 June 1944[3]) was an English rugby union footballer who played in the 1880s. He played at representative level for England, and at club level for Huddersfield,[4] as a forward, e.g. front row, lock, or back row. Prior to Tuesday 27 August 1895, Huddersfield was a rugby union club.
Ernie Woodhead was born in Huddersfield, West Riding of Yorkshire, he was the son of Joseph Woodhead, Liberal Party Member of parliament for Spen Valley,[5] he died aged 87 in Huddersfield, West Riding of Yorkshire.[1]
