Erupcja (Polish: [ɛˈrup.t͡sja], lit. 'eruption') is a 2025 drama film directed and produced by Pete Ohs, from a screenplay by Ohs, Jeremy O. Harris, Charli XCX, Lena Góra, and Will Madden. It stars XCX, Góra, O. Harris and Madden.

Premise
A romantic vacation goes awry when a volcanic eruption strands Bethany (Charli XCX) and her soon-to-be fiancé, Rob (Will Madden) in Warsaw, Poland. Bethany takes the explosive event as a sign to ditch her baggage, reunite with childhood friend Nel (Lena Góra) and traipse across lofts, clubs and back alleys, all the while becoming entangled in an emotional web that challenges her sense of self.

Production
In October 2024, it was announced Charli XCX, Lena Góra, Jeremy O. Harris and Will Madden had joined the cast, with Pete Ohs directing. Principal photography took place in Poland.[4]
Release
The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival in the Centrepiece section on September 4, 2025.[5] On September 17, 1-2 Special acquired distribution rights to the film for North America that is scheduled to be released on April 17, 2026.[6][7] On November 4, Vertigo Releasing acquired the distribution rights for the United Kingdom and Ireland and plans to theatrically release the film in the second quarter of 2026.[8]
Reception
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 85% of 55 critics' reviews are positive.[9] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 72 out of 100, based on 14 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.[10]
Adrian Horton of The Guardian gave the film two out of five stars in her review describing it a "slight and unpolished project".[11]
