Thousands of Chabad followers and other Jewish people visit 770 for the Jewish holidays; according to the organization, 770 has only 518 available seats.[8]

Writing for Anash.org, Jacobson said: "We were given marching orders by our Moshe, our Rebbe. He told us that 770 is Beis Rabeinu SheBibovel, and we have the obligation of expanding the shul as much as is needed in order to accommodate all those who want to come to Beis Rabeinu, an obligation similar to building the Beis HaMikdosh"[1]

Some of the renderings used by the organization were created by By S. Wieder Architect.[9]

Kuntres Beis Rabbeinu ShebiBavel

On October 27, 1991, the sixth Chabad Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson published his Sicha: Kuntres Beis Rabbeinu ShebiBavel (English: The house of our Rabbi in Babylon). In this Sicha, the Rebbe declares and explains that 770 Eastern Parkway is Beis Rabeinu, the substitute to the Beis Hamikdosh until the arrival of Moshiach. This speech is the driving force behind the organization's activities, as well as the 770 Eastern Parkway tunnel incident.[10]

One of the organization's activities is the distribution of Kuntres Beis Rabbeinu ShebiBavel.[6]
