Unlike his first album, which consisted of cover versions, Fearless was composed almost entirely of original songs, mostly written by Curry with producers Michael Kamen and former Lou Reed collaborator Dick Wagner.
A single, "I Do the Rock", became Curry's most successful in the United States, reaching the Billboard Hot 100. "Paradise Garage" was also released as a 7" and 12" single in certain countries.
"No Love on the Street" was covered by Joe Bonamassa on his 2011 album Dust Bowl. “This is the last song we recorded for the album. We needed one more oddball choice, and Kevin came up with this track, which was written by Michael Kamen and Tim Curry. He played it for me, and I said, 'It’s perfect!' “What I like about it is, it’s a very desperate blues track - moody and dark and strange. We got this incredible vocalist, Beth Hart, to sing on it, as well, and she’s great, man. She was in the studio with us at the time, and I thought, well, I might as well have her help me out on this one; she's got the perfect voice. She’s killer! “We cut it live, we’re singing live - it’s got spirit and true feeling. Again, it’s a bit of a weird choice, but that’s why I like it so much. You have to throw some left curves at people sometimes.” This was the birth of a collaboration between Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart that lasts to this day. One has to wonder if all the BH and JB fans know they owe it all to Tim Curry. [1]
Critical reception
The Globe and Mail wrote that "Curry is definitely a better interpreter of other people's material than he is a songwriter."[3]
