Early life

Harris spent the first half of his life in Canton, Ohio, alongside his cousin Trippie Redd, where the two grew up together. Then, Harris, his mother, and two brothers moved to East Atlanta at the age of eight. Trippie said, "He came to Georgia in 2012-2013, and he stayed with me for a year". After finding stability in the new state, Harris was able to move out and start his own respective journey and occupancy; however the two cousins still support each other, with Trippie Redd saying, "We support each other 100%, especially when new music drops." [1]

Career

Early career

Harris began making music as early as eight, and by 2009, him and his mother began to sell CDs at the Lennox Mall under the moniker "Young TV", under which he would also perform at local events.[1]

By 2015, Harris would begin to make waves in Atlanta with his "cyber sound". In his interview with XXL magazine, Harris would claim that his biggest influences included 50 Cent, Kid Cudi, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Lil Wayne and Neil Young. Harris would claim how whenever he felt down, he would listen to Kid Cudi to keep on moving. He also claimed listening to Neil Young's music helped affect his music vibe, with Harris claiming, "It's more like a chillax thing, but still fire."[2]

In 2016, he began gaining widespread attention after independently releasing music onto SoundCloud. This allowed Harris to join fellow rapper Lil Uzi Vert for a few date spots on his Luv Is Rage tour, which would help propel his name within the industry.[3]

By 2017 into 2018, Harris would sign a record deal with the record label Empire Distribution. During his interview with the record label on their popular series "How I Built My EMPIRE", Harris stated how his family was a large step to his success, how his fascination and determination to push the new music culture and to "wow" his fans helped him out, and how doing what he desired helped him get to the place in life that he wanted to get to.[4][3]

Following his signing, Harris released his debut mixtape dubbed "Satellite Crash", which had features from Robb Bank$, and also featured his breakthrough track, "Wintertime Nights".[2][5][6]

In the end of 2020, he would follow through with his third mixtape, Beastboy, which released on December 25, 2020.[7]

2022–present

From 2019 to 2022, Fijimacintosh was largely active within the music industry. In 2019, he released his second mixtape, Teenage Disillusionment. Following the mixtape's release, he would go on tour with fellow artist Smooky Margielaa, and would release music videos for tracks such as "Demon Slayer".[5][8]

Following the album's release, he would keep fairly quiet, only releasing a handful of singles and an EP dubbed Elements.[9]

After having a quiet 2021 and 2022, Fiji would return, but as a guest rapper on his cousin Trippie Redd's album, Mansion Musik, where he would be featured on "Hideout", serving as the 17th track on the album.[10][11]

Seven months after, on August 25, 2023, Fiji would release his fourth mixtape, dubbed Nocturnal. The album has 20 tracks, and includes features from notable names such as Trippie Redd, Lil Tracy, Lil B, and Dom Corleo, amongst others. The album showcases Fiji's versatility as a rapper and ability to make pop rap songs while staying true to his genre.[12]
