Fissurina duplicans is a little-known species of corticolous (bark-dwelling) script lichen in the family Graphidaceae.[1] It is found in primary rainforests of Brazil. The lichen has an endoperidermal thallus and a double margin of lirellae, setting it apart from similar species.
Fissurina duplicans was formally described as a new species in 2014 by lichenologists Marcela Cáceres, André Aptroot, and Robert Lücking. The type specimen was collected by the first two authors in Fazenda São Francisco, north of Porto Velho (Rondônia, Brazil), where it was found growing on tree bark in a primary rainforest.[2]
