Flamingo Transworld is an Indian travel and tourism company headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The company was established in 1996 by Meeta Shah as a small ticketing business and later expanded into international group tours.[1] It operates in several Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, and Hyderabad.[2]
History and operations
The company was founded in 1996 in Ahmedabad by Meeta Shah, along with her husband, Sanjay Shah, as an air-ticketing agency.[3] After obtaining accreditation from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Flamingo Transworld expanded into international group tours, initially focusing on destinations in Southeast Asia,[4] and later including tours to Europe, Africa, and North America.[5]
During the 2000s and 2010s, the company expanded its operations to several Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, and Hyderabad. As of 2024, it operates offices across multiple states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.[5] In 2024, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Tourism New Zealand to facilitate travel between India and New Zealand.[6][7]
Awards and recognition
In 2018, Meeta Shah received the state award Best Female Entrepreneur of Gujarat at the Tourism Awards Gujarat.[4] The company was named Best Outbound Tour Operator of Gujarat by Gujarat Tourism for three consecutive years through 2019.[2]
