Premise

The friend of a newspaper editor is murdered.[5]

According to the ABC, "Robert Frayne is making up the front page of the Echo one night when his maid, Celia, rings up to say she has just come to the flat and found there the dead body of Frayne’s friend Anthony Wainewright. Who would wish to murder WainewrigHt? How did he get into the Fraynes’ flat? For apparently while Robert Frayne was busy at the office, his wife. Laura, was visiting her invalid aunt and the maid was out with her boy-friend Frayne calls in the paper’s crime reporter Johnny Waring to help the police. As evidence is unravelled, it seems to point to suspicion of Laura."[6]

Reception

"The author's invention gave out very early on" wrote the Liverpool Post.[7]
