Fırat Binici

Binici competed in freestyle wrestling. He came through Erzurum Büyükşehir Belediyespor and was coached by İlhami Topaloğlu and İsmail Yıldırım.^[2][4]

His first major senior international result came at the 2009 European Wrestling Championships in Vilnius, where he reached the final of the 74 kg division. On his senior European Championships debut, he defeated Estonia's Raido Jalas, North Macedonia's Ljulzim Vrenezi, Belarusian wrestler Murad Gaidarov, and Georgia's Gela Saghirashvili before losing in the final to Azerbaijan's Chamsulvara Chamsulvarayev and taking the silver medal.^[2][3]

Ahead of the 2009 World Wrestling Championships, he was listed among the notable contenders at 74 kg by USA Wrestling's TheMat website.^[5]

Later in his career, Binici moved up in weight. He won silver medals at the 2011 Dan Kolov & Nikola Petrov Tournament in Burgas and the 2014 Dan Kolov & Nikola Petrov Tournament in Sofia in the 84 kg division.^[1][6] In 2014, he also finished seventh at the 2014 European Wrestling Championships.^[7]

After retiring from competition, Binici moved into coaching. In 2019, he was appointed as a coach of Turkey's senior men's freestyle national team.^[8] In 2021, he was reported as working as a coach with ASKİ.^[9]
