Gabriel Dossen (born 29 November 1999)[1] is an Irish boxer who won gold at the 2022 European Championships in the men's middleweight (75 kg) division.[2][3] In November 2025, he was sentenced to five and a half years' imprisonment for offences including possession of cocaine for sale or supply, following guilty pleas in Galway Circuit Court.[4]
Youth and underage career
Dossen boxes out of Olympic Boxing Club Galway and fights from a southpaw stance.[3][5]
In 2016, Dossen won bronze at the 2016 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.[6] In 2017, he won bronze at the EUBC European Youth Championships in Antalya.[7]
Senior international career
In May 2022, Dossen won gold at the European Amateur Boxing Championships in Yerevan, defeating England's Lewis Richardson by unanimous decision in the 75 kg final.[2][3] Reporting at the time noted it was his first senior international tournament.[8]
Personal life
Dossen was born in Ivory Coast and is associated with Knocknacarra, Galway. He studied business at the Technological University of the Shannon (Athlone).[8]
Legal issues
In October 2022, Dossen pleaded guilty at Galway District Court to possession of cannabis valued at €1,072 and possession of that cannabis for sale or supply, relating to an incident at Cartur Mór, Knocknacarra. The court also heard evidence of a separate stop and search in July 2021 in which he was found with a small quantity of cannabis herb; the report stated that the drugs were ordered destroyed and the cash seized was forfeited to the State (pending appeal).[9]
In February 2024, Dossen was arrested in Galway as part of a Garda drugs investigation. In November 2025, Galway Circuit Court heard he had intended to use a city hotel to process and distribute cocaine; Gardaí seized drugs and other items associated with drug supply. He pleaded guilty to multiple offences including possession of cocaine for sale or supply, a money laundering offence, and assaulting a garda with intent to resist lawful apprehension. Judge Brian O’Callaghan imposed a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence for the cocaine sale-or-supply offence, with concurrent sentences reported for other offences.[4]
