Preparation

Gadolinium(III) bromide can be obtained by the reaction between gadolinium and hydrobromic acid:[5]

2 Gd + 6 HBr → 2 GdBr3 + 3 H2

The anhydrous form can be obtained by heating the hydrate with ammonium bromide.[5]
