Geraldine Smith (actress)

Smith was born in Brooklyn, New York. She was discovered by Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey at Max's Kansas City in New York City along with her friends Andrea Feldman and Patti D'Arbanville in the late 1960s. She became one of Warhol's superstars and co-starred with Joe Dallesandro in the 1968 film Flesh, directed by Morrissey.^[1][2] In 1969, columnist Burt Prelutsky wrote Smith was a "worthy" successor to Warhol superstars Viva and Ultra Violet.^[3]

Reportedly, Smith turned down a role in the film Trash because she did not approve of the title. Smith and her sister Maria Smith appeared in Andy Warhol's Bad (1977), directed by Warhol's boyfriend Jed Johnson.^[4]

Smith was photographed by Francesco Scavullo for his book Scavullo on Beauty (1976).^[5]

In 1980, Smith played the minor role of Janet in Martin Scorsese's Raging Bull. She later starred in such Morrissey films as Mixed Blood (1984) and Spike of Bensonhurst (1988).
