Emir of Dutse (born 1979)

Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi (also spelled Hameem or Hameen; born 26 February 1979), CFR, is a Nigerian traditional ruler who has been the Emir of Dutse (the capital of Jigawa State) since 5 February 2023. He succeeded his father, Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi, the previous Emir, who died on 31 January 2023.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Sanusi was born on 26 February 1979 and spent his early years in Kano State. He relocated to Jigawa State in 1995 after his father became Emir of Dutse. He attended Kano Capital School and Airforce Primary School for his primary education, then Crescent International School and Federal Government College Kano for secondary education. He later studied in Malaysia, obtaining bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Monash University (Sunway Campus). He completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the National Assembly in Abuja in 2006.[4][1]
Before becoming Emir he held the traditional title of Dan Iyan Dutse.
Career
Prior to his accession, Sanusi worked in the private sector. He served as Head of Business Development at Bilyak Consulting (2007–2011), Head of the Northern Region at SMD Consulting (2011–2016), and Managing Director of HMS Energy Limited.[1]
Reign
Following the death of his father on 31 January 2023, the Dutse Emirate kingmakers selected Sanusi as the new Emir. Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State approved the appointment on 5 February 2023. He was formally presented with the staff of office later that year.[1][5]
He was awarded the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) in 2023.
