Hellmut von der Chevallerie

Gustav Hans Erdmann Hellmuth von der Chevallerie[1] (9 November 1896 – 1 June 1965) was a highly decorated General of the Infantry in the German Wehrmacht during the Second World War, who commanded the 13th Panzer Division. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded by Nazi Germany to recognize battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Chevallerie was captured by Allied troops in 1945 and was released in 1947.
