History

Higgsfield AI was founded in 2023 by Alex Mashrabov and Erzat Dulat.[1][3] Mashrabov previously led generative AI at Snap and had earlier co-founded AI Factory, which Snap acquired in 2020.[4]

In March 2025 the company launched a browser-based product for end-to-end AI video creation.[1] In January 2026, Higgsfield said it raised an $80 million extension to its Series A round, valuing the company at more than $1.3 billion; Reuters reported participation from Accel, GFT Ventures, and Menlo Ventures.[1] TechCrunch reported the total Series A as $130 million and also named AI Capital Partners among the extension investors.[4][5]

Geographic footprint

The company is commonly described as San Francisco–based in international business and technology coverage.[1][4] At the same time, it has been cited in business reporting as a startup with significant ties to Kazakhstan, including leadership and technical talent associated with the country’s technology ecosystem.[1] The company is a participant in the Astana Hub, which has supported its recruitment of regional engineering talent.[6]

Products and technology

Higgsfield’s product is positioned as a workflow layer for generative media, combining multiple models and editing tools into guided creation flows for marketing and social media production.[2][5] Reuters reported that the company integrates third-party models and uses an internal “reasoning engine” aimed at improving consistency in generated video content.[1]

OpenAI highlighted Higgsfield as an example of an application built around a pipeline that uses OpenAI models for planning and video generation in a social video workflow.[7]

Business and use

Higgsfield is primarily used for short-form content creation for social platforms and advertising. Reuters reported that social media marketers accounted for the majority of its user base at the time of its January 2026 funding announcement and described the company’s growth plans in hiring and enterprise expansion.[1] Adweek described the platform’s use in marketing contexts and its emphasis on speed-to-publish for trend-driven campaigns.[2]
