Hisham Ezz Al-Arab (Arabic: هشام عز العرب; born 1957) is an Egyptian banker. He is the former Chairman and Managing Director of Commercial International Bank (CIB), a position he resigned from in October 2020.[1][2]
He has held various global leadership positions at banks such as J.P. Morgan Chase and Deutsche Bank.[3][4][5] He became CEO and Managing Director of CIB in 2002.[6]
Ezz Al-Arab has received several accolades, including Best CEO in Egypt and Africa from EMEA Finance in 2014, and the Euromoney Award for Excellence for Outstanding Contribution to the Middle East Financial Services Industry in 2016.[7]
He currently serves on the board of Fairfax Africa and is a member of the MasterCard Middle East and Africa Advisory Board.[8][9] Prior to his time at CIB, he served as an advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for three months.[10]
In August 2023, he was appointed as an advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt. He later resigned from that position after returning to his role as Chairman of the Commercial International Bank.[11]
