Life

Doohan is the son of the Australian tennis player Peter Doohan (1961–2017) and Angie Harper Carmichael.[1] He grew up "all over the south" but chiefly in Fort Smith, Arkansas.[2] He became interested in acting via high school and community theatre programs;[3] after high school he took up an internship at Elizabeth Barnes Casting in Los Angeles[2] before working in a variety of day jobs including background extra, waiter, and Universal Studios tour guide[4] while studying acting and auditioning for parts.[2]

Career

Doohan's breakthrough role was playing the younger version of Aaron Paul's character Warren Cave in the first season of the 2019 Apple TV+ series Truth Be Told. In 2020, he appeared with a main role in the legal drama series Your Honor.[5] He portrayed Adam Desiato, the son of Bryan Cranston's character, that gets into trouble after being involved in a hit-and-run accident.[6]

In 2022, he began portraying Tyler Galpin in the Netflix series Wednesday, an adaption of The Addams Family.[7] He stars alongside Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Christina Ricci, and Gwendoline Christie. The show has run for two seasons and renewed for a third, with Doohan set to return.[8][9]

In May 2025, Doohan was cast in the supernatural horror film, Evil Dead Burn. The film serves as the third standalone entry, after Evil Dead Rise (2023), and the sixth installment in the Evil Dead film series.[10] He also appeared in Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again, as Bastian Cooper.[11][12] Doohan also stars in the American drama film The Wilderness, which is set to release in October 2025.[13]

Personal life

Doohan, who is gay, began dating producer Fielder Jewett in 2015 and the two married in June 2022.[14][9] The wedding was officiated by Doohan's friend and co-star Bryan Cranston.[15]

While Doohan has been open about his sexuality since he was 18, he admitted to privating pictures of him and his then-boyfriend when auditioning for roles. Doohan has credited fellow actor Jonathan Bailey, who is also gay, for inspiring him to be open about his sexuality in the industry.[16][17]
