Hunter Mutual was a credit union based in and serving the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia. It was established in 1968 as the Upper Hunter Local Government Employee's Credit Union.[1] In 1971, it changed its name to the Upper Hunter Credit Union in 1971, and following a restructure of its operations in 2004, it took on the name Hunter Mutual. During the 1990s, when many major banks closed branches in small country towns, Hunter Mutual set up new branches areas within the Upper Hunter where this occurred.
