The school's charter was approved for five years, and has recurringly been approved since. The school was intended to eventually offer grades K-12, but to this day remains a K-8 school. The main charter petitioner was Marisa Kashapov.[9][self-published source?] The School opened its doors in the lower campus in August 2015, and for a period only offered grades K-5 before expanding to a K-8.
