Ivars Samušonoks (born 4 May 1999 in Riga) is a Latvian freestyle wrestler. He won the bronze medal at the 2021 U23 World Wrestling Championships.[1][2]

Early life
Samušonoks graduated from Staļģene Secondary School and in 2018 began his studies at the Latvian Academy of Sport Education. His coach is Ivars Drupa.[3] In 2022, he was included in the silver squad of the Latvian Olympic Unit.[4][5] His uncle is former wrestler and Olympian Igors Samušonoks.[6]
Career
In 2017, Samušonoks won the gold medal in the 74 kg event at the Nordic Championships held in Panevėžys. In 2018, he again became Nordic champion, winning the 79 kg title in Västerås.[7]
In 2019, he finished fifth at the U23 World Championships and also placed fifth at the World Junior Championships.[8] In 2020, he finished 22nd at the 2020 Individual Wrestling World Cup.[9]
In 2021, he placed fifth at the senior 2021 European Wrestling Championships.[10] Later that year, he won the bronze medal at the 2021 U23 World Wrestling Championships.[11]
In 2025, he finished seventh at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships and won the bronze medal in the 86 kg event at the 2025 World Military Wrestling Championships.[12]
