Plot
The film begins during the time of the India-China war, when a freedom fighter, Madhava Rao, works tirelessly for the welfare of the public alongside his daughter, Bharati, his niece, Kasthuri, and his son, Ravindra Nath, who serves in the Indian Army. Meanwhile, his deceitful brother-in-law, Narasimham, is a secret agent for the traitors, yet pretends to be a patriot. On the war front, Ravi goes missing and is seriously injured; fortunately, a nurse named Susheela rescues him, and the two fall in love. Eventually, a grief-stricken Madhava Rao relocates to the home of Ravi's close friend, Dr. Raghu, who is disabled. Nevertheless, Bharathi falls in love with and marries him.
Simultaneously, Narasimham's son, Babu, arrives from the United States with a foreign girl named Lilly. After some time, Ravi returns with Susheela and expresses his desire to marry her, which Narasimham and his wife, Sundaramma, oppose, as they wish to pair Kasthuri with him. Despite Ravi's determination, just before the wedding, Susheela dies in a car accident, leaving a devastated Ravi to travel throughout the country. During his travels, he spots Susheela alive and discovers that she is actually Sujatha, Susheela's twin sister. He is enchanted by her and proposes, but she declines. However, Ravi pursues her when he learns that Sujatha's engagement has already been arranged with her foster son, Ramu, whose whereabouts are unknown.
The elders now persuade Sujatha to accept the marriage proposal when the Indian Army declares an emergency, prompting Ravi to pause the wedding and head to the battlefield. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Raghu is the only Ramu who stayed behind due to his disability. Narasimham is also plotting to destroy essential runways in the country, but Ravi foils his scheme. Surprisingly, Lilly is revealed to be a CBI officer and apprehends him. In the end, Ravi is honoured by the Government of India, and the film concludes happily with the marriage of Ravi and Sujatha.
