James William Holtsnider[1] is an American politician, diplomat and former officer who served as the Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs. He currently serves as the Ambassador to Jordan under the Second Trump Administration since December 2025.[2][3] Previously, he served as the Chargé d'affaires to Samoa from May 2024 to January 2025.[4][5]
In addition, he previously served as an Operations Officer in the Department's Operations Center and as the Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States Embassy in Kuwait City.[2][4]
