Jamie Crees

Crees was a schools, youth and Gaelic champion^[3] and fought out of the Prince of Wales Amateur Boxing Club in Cardiff.^[4]

During some of his boxing career his name appeared as Jamie Alger Crees and going into the 2002 Welsh ABA final he had won 52 of his 65 contests^[5] but lost in the final to Peter Ashton.^[6]

A postman by profession,^[7] Crees represented the 2006 Welsh team^[8] at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia,^[9] where he competed in the light-welterweight division. He won the bronze medal^[10] at the Games, after defeating Carl Heild of the Bahamas, Dermot Hamill of Northern Ireland,^[11] and Chukwudi Nwaiwu of Nigeria but in the semi-final was beaten by James Russan.^[12]
