Jeremy Towns (born March 9, 1989) is an American medical doctor and former football player in the National Football League (NFL).[1] He played as a defensive tackle for the Washington Redskins, the Buffalo Bills, and the Philadelphia Eagles.[2][3]
Towns grew up in Dolomite, an unincorporated community near Birmingham, Alabama, and attended Wenonah High School.[2][1] He studied sports medicine as an undergraduate, receiving a degree from Samford University where he played football as a defensive lineman.[2][3] Shortly before he was due to start medical school, he signed as a free agent with the Washington Redskins,[4] and deferred.[2][3]
Following his career in the NFL, Towns returned to the University of South Alabama,[2] and graduated as an MD.[5][1] He did his residency in emergency medicine at the UAB Hospital.[1]
