He was a member of Sligo County Council from 1920 to 1942.[1]
He was an unsuccessful independent candidate in Sligo–Mayo East at the 1922 general election.[2] He was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a Cumann na nGaedheal Teachta Dála (TD) for Leitrim–Sligo at the 1923 general election.[3] He was re-elected at each subsequent election until he lost his seat at the 1933 general election.[2]
