Joshua Livingstone Mears (born February 21, 2001) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Lake Country DockHounds of the American Association of Professional Baseball.

Career

Mears was born in Kirkland, Washington and attended Federal Way High School. He batted .509 with ten home runs as a senior.[1] Mears had committed to play college baseball at Purdue University prior to being drafted.[2]

San Diego Padres

Mears was selected in the second round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft by the San Diego Padres and received a $1 million signing bonus.[3][4] After signing with the team, he was assigned to the Arizona League Padres and batted .253 with seven home runs, 24 RBIs, and thirty runs scored in 166 at-bats.[5] Mears was named to the Padres' 2021 Spring Training roster as a non-roster invitee and entered the season as the organization's 10th-ranked prospect by MLB.com.[6] He was assigned to the Low-A Lake Elsinore Storm for the 2021 season.[7] Over 71 games, he slashed .244/.368/.529 with 17 home runs, 48 RBIs, and ten stolen bases. He missed time during the season due to injury.[8] He was released on April 9, 2026.

Lake Country DockHounds

On April 24, 2026, Mears signed with the Lake Country DockHounds of the American Association of Professional Baseball.[9]
