Juan Gabriel con el Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán is the fourth studio album by Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel. It was released on October 20, 1974, through RCA Victor.[1] The project represents a significant landmark and stylistic turning point in his discography, marking his first full-length exploration of traditional Mariachi and Ranchera music following three consecutive pop ballad records.[2] Musical accompaniment for the sessions was performed entirely by the legendary folk ensemble Vargas de Tecalitlán, under the overarching artistic guidance of musical directors Fernando Z. Maldonado and Eduardo Magallanes.[2][3]

The project achieved immense commercial success throughout North and Latin America, establishing Juan Gabriel's versatility beyond the confines of contemporary pop. The production yielded several enduring radio hits that became staples of his catalog, most notably the signature tracking lead single "Se Me Olvidó Otra Vez" and the mournful "Lágrimas y Lluvia."[2] In 1977, the historical importance of the record was extended when Juan Gabriel made his official cinematic acting debut in the motion picture Nobleza Ranchera, starring alongside prominent Mexican film icons Sara García and Verónica Castro.
