Julius Schachter

Julius Schachter (June 1, 1936 – December 20, 2020) was an American microbiologist at the University of California, San Francisco. He was a leading expert on Chlamydia.[1][2][3]
Schachter was born in the Bronx, to parents Sam and Mary (Kudisch). His father was a furrier and his mother was a clerk at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.[1]
He received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Columbia University in 1957, his master's degree in physiology from Hunter College in 1960 and his PhD in bacteriology from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1965.[1]
