Subsequent developments
Section 2 of the act was repealed by section 1 of, and the schedule to, the Statute Law Revision Act 1863 (26 & 27 Vict. c. 125), which came into force on 28 July 1863.[1]
Section 5, to the words " continued in full force and strength ", was repealed by section 10(2) of, and part I of schedule 3 to, the Criminal Law Act 1967, which came into force on 1 January 1968.[2]
The whole act, so far as unrepealed, was repealed by section 8(2) of, and part II of schedule 5 to, the Justices of the Peace Act 1968.
The act was repealed for the Republic of Ireland by sections 2(1) and 3(1) of, and part 2 of schedule 2 to, the Statute Law Revision Act 2007.
