Józefów Massacre

50°29′N 23°03′E / 50.48°N 23.05°E / 50.48; 23.05Józefów Massacre refers to the mass murder of Polish Jewish inhabitants of Józefów Biłgorajski carried out by German occupiers on 13 July 1942. On Winiarczykowa Góra near Józefów, officers of the 101st Reserve Police Battalion (Reserve-Polizei-Bataillon 101) shot 1,300 to 1,500 Jews. Most of the victims were women, children and the elderly.
