K.Michelle released her debut studio album, Rebellious Soul, in 2013 through Atlantic Records. The album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 and reached number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, marking her highest-charting project and a major breakthrough in her recording career. Its success was supported by singles as "V.S.O.P" and "Can't Raise a Man", both of which performed strongly on the R&B charts.
