Kapełków (German: Kapelka)[2] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Głogówek, within Prudnik County, Opole Voivodeship, in southern Poland.[3] It is situated in the historical region of Prudnik Land.[4]
The village is located in the southern part of Opole Voivodeship, close to the Czech Republic–Poland border. It is situated in the historical Prudnik Land region, as well as in Upper Silesia. It lies in the Silesian Lowlands, in the valley of Stradunia river.[5] The National Register of Geographical Names for 2025 classified Kapełków as a part (część wsi) of Biedrzychowice.[6]
Etymology
In the German times, the village's name was Kapelka.[2] It was derived from a Polish word kapać (to drip).[7] In 1936, Nazi administration of the German Reich changed the village's name to Molken.[2]
Following the Second World War, the Polish name Wydzieracz was introduced by the Commission for the Determination of Place Names on 1 October 1948.[8] It was also called Kapołków.[2]
