Khordad (Persian: خرداد, Persian pronunciation: [xoɾˈdɒːd][1]) is the third month of the Solar Hijri calendar.[1] Khordad has thirty-one days.[1] It begins in May and ends in June by the Gregorian calendar.[citation needed] Khordad is the third month of the spring season (Bahar). It is followed by Tir.[1] The Afghan Persian name is Jawzā (جَوزا). The name is derived from the deity name Haurvatat.
