Klanec (pronounced [ˈklaːnəts]; German: Klanz[2]) is a small village in the Municipality of Komenda in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia.[3]
The name Klanec is shared with several other settlements in Slovenia. The name is derived from the Slovene common noun klanec, which may variously mean 'steep path upwards', 'path through a narrow area', and 'isolated, tucked-away place'.[4] In the past the German name was Klanz.[2] In the 18th century, the northern part of the village was known as Dragomenja vas.[5][6]
