Plot
Development and release
In April 2018, a free playable demo was released as part of Last Epoch's Kickstarter drive.[3] In April 2019, the game's beta was made available via Steam Early Access.[4] In December 2019, the title's full release, originally planned for April 2020, was rescheduled to the fourth quarter of 2020.[5] In October 2020, the developers announced the cancellation of the Mac client for the game. In their announcement, they cited anticipated difficulties arising from Apple's transition to computers powered by ARM-based processors.[6] In December 2020, Eleventh Hour Games announced that Last Epoch's release was delayed until 2021.[7]
In September 2024, the studio announced they would no longer be updating the Linux client.[8] There was controversy surrounding this decision as, initially, the post had failed to mention the Linux client at all.[9]
In March 2023, a multiplayer beta was launched.[10] On February 21, 2024, the game was released to the public in three editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate.[11] The launch had more than 250,000 concurrent online players.[12]
