Lee Ledogo Maeba is a Nigerian politician who was elected senator for the Rivers State South East constituency on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform in April 2003, at age 37, and was reelected in April 2007.[1] As of 15 March 2004, Maeba was a member of the Pan-African Parliament.[2]

Maeba was born in February 1966. He obtained a BSc Degree in Technology from University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt. Before becoming a senator he was a justice of the peace and a state party vice chairman.[1] He is married to Mrs. Aya Maeba, who also is from a family of politicians. In a May 2009 survey of senatorial performance in the 6th National Assembly, ThisDay noted that he had sponsored several bills related to oil exploitation, and gave him an "average" rating.[3]
Early life and education
Public and political career
Lee Ledogo Maeba is a Nigerian politician and engineer from Rivers State. Before entering the National Assembly, he served as a Justice of the Peace and as Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.
Maeba was elected to the Nigerian Senate in 2003 to represent the Rivers South-East Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected in 2007 and served in the Senate until 2011.
During his time in the Senate, he chaired the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) and participated in legislative activities relating to Nigeria's oil and gas sector. He was also a member of the Pan-African Parliament.
After leaving the Senate, Maeba remained active in Nigerian politics and continued to participate in political discussions in Rivers State and nationally.[6][7][8][9][10]
Legislative activities
During his tenure in the Nigerian Senate, Lee Ledogo Maeba participated in legislative activities relating to Nigeria's petroleum sector. He served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), where he contributed to discussions on the Petroleum Industry Bill and other matters concerning the oil and gas industry.
Maeba sponsored the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Bill, which was enacted as the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act in 2010.[11][12][13]
Community activities
During and after his tenure in the Senate, Lee Ledogo Maeba was associated with community-based initiatives in Rivers State, particularly in Ogoniland.
Through the Senator Lee Maeba Foundation, he supported health outreach programmes, including medical screening and treatment activities in parts of Rivers State. In 2014, the foundation, in collaboration with the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and the Diabetes Association of Nigeria, organised diabetes and blood pressure screening and treatment programmes for residents in Ogoni communities.[14][15]

Lee Ledogo Maeba is married to Mrs Aya Maeba.[16]
