Li Sijin

Li Sijin was born in Taigu, Shanxi, in August 1962. He studied clinical medicine at Shanxi Medical College from 1980 to 1985 and subsequently pursued a master's degree in nuclear medicine at the same institution, graduating in 1988.^[2] He later obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Peking Union Medical College.^[3][4]

Following his graduation, Li began his medical career at the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, where he worked as a physician in the Department of Nuclear Medicine. Over time, he advanced to become deputy director and later director of the department, while also serving as a professor and doctoral supervisor. He undertook further academic exchanges abroad, including serving as a visiting scholar at teaching hospitals affiliated with the University of Oxford.^[5][6]

In 2003, Li was appointed vice president of the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, and later held concurrent positions as director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine. He continued his administrative career as vice president of Shanxi Medical University in 2013. In 2017, he was appointed president of Shanxi Medical University, a position he held until 2022.^[7][8]

Li has been active in the Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party and rose through its ranks to become chairman of its Shanxi Provincial Committee. In 2017, he was elected to the Central Standing Committee of the party. In January 2018, he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.^[9]
