The highest temperature ever recorded in New Zealand is 42.4 °C (108.3 °F), which was recorded on 7 February 1973 at Rangiora in Canterbury. The lowest temperature ever recorded in New Zealand is −25.6 °C (−14.1 °F), on 17 July 1903 at Ranfurly in the Otago Region.
