Luis Enrique Arroyo Sánchez[a] (born 10 November 1956)[citation needed] is the current Prime Minister of Peru since 17 March 2026.[1]
Arroyo retired from the military as a major general. During his service, he "commanded the Third Army Division in Arequipa and the Fifth Division in Iquitos, served in the Valle de los Ríos Apurímac, Ene y Mantaro counterinsurgency zone, and directed the Army War College".[2] Between 5 November 2025 and 24 February 2026, Arroyo served as chief of the National Civil Defense Institute.[3] President José María Balcázar appointed Arroyo as prime minister after Denisse Miralles stepped down from the position after serving for three weeks.[4]
