Lukas Gage

Gage was born on May 28, 1995, in San Diego, California, and raised in Encinitas, California.^[2][3] His father is from a Jewish family from New York.^[4][5] Gage went to film camp every summer^[6] and acted in plays and commercials.^[7] He attended San Dieguito Academy in Encinitas.^[7]

In November 2020, Gage posted a clip of an audition on Zoom during which director Tristram Shapeero could be heard criticizing Gage's apartment, unaware that his microphone was not muted.^[8] Gage received messages of support from others in the film industry. Although he did not get the job, the rejection allowed him to accept a part on the HBO miniseries The White Lotus.^[9]

Gage published his memoir I Wrote This for Attention in October 2025, making his writing debut.^[10]

Hairstylist Chris Appleton confirmed his relationship with Gage on The Drew Barrymore Show in March 2023,^[11] and early the following month the pair became engaged.^[12] Nineteen days later, Appleton and Gage were married.^[13] On November 13, 2023, Appleton filed for divorce from Gage, citing irreconcilable differences.^[14] In June 2024, the divorce was settled.^[1] In November 2025, Gage said about his sexuality: "I think I'm queer. Gay 90 percent, 10 percent straight. Can I say that? I don't know. Am I only with men? No. I don't know exactly what the label is for that. But mostly gay."^[15]

Gage revealed in his memoir that he has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.^[16]
