MWC 656 is an X-ray binary star system in the northern constellation of Lacerta. It has the identifier HD 215227 from the Henry Draper Catalogue.[9] With an apparent visual magnitude of 8.75,[1] it is too faint to be viewed with the naked eye. Based on parallax measurements, it is located at a distance of approximately 6,700 light years from the Sun.[2] At one time it was considered a member of the Lacerta OB1 association of co-moving stars,[4] but the distance estimate places it well past that group.[10]
