Queen Malika Kishwar (died 1858) was the mother of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, the last King of Awadh.[1] After the king was placed under arrest for refusing to sign the annexation treaty, she met with British authorities in Lucknow to plead their case.[2] In 1856, she travelled to England and met with Queen Victoria in 1857.[2][3] After the intervention of France, she was given permission to travel to Mecca on her way home, but died the next day.[2] She is buried in an unmarked grave at Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.[2][3]
