Marc Atkins

Marc Atkins (born 1962) is an English artist, photographer and poet whose work includes images of cities and nudes, as well as commercial work such as album and book covers.[1]
Background
Atkins attended Staffordshire College of Art and Design, gaining a Distinction; Cheltenham School of Art, receiving a first class honours degree (in sculpture), followed by postgraduate studies at the Jan Van Eyck Academie,[2] in the Netherlands (in performance, video, film and photography). After spending the subsequent year in Rome, he returned to London.
He then moved to Canada where he became assistant professor at the University of Windsor, Ontario, during which time he travelled across North America. Since then, Atkins has lived and worked in London but has also spent extended periods in Rome, New York, Warsaw and Paris.
Atkins has presented his work at lectures and conferences in the United Kingdom and internationally. He has also published collections of prose and poetry, including The Prism Walls.[3] and The Logic of the Stairwell.[4]
Atkins' work has been exhibited and discussed in books, magazines and newspapers, including Le Passant Ordinaire. [5]
Alongside his artistic practice, Atkins has undertaken commercial photography, producing album artwork, book jackets and video commissions. Several of his photographic portraits are held in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery, London.[6]
